Hello! I'm Hal, an aspiring young artist from Iowa. I love cartoons and creating fun characters!Starting to draw around 2013 with My Little Pony fanart, I started viewing art as a career path in 2018. In 2023, I began taking classes at the FIGGE art museum and taking freelance work online via Toyhouse. My artwork has recieved rewards such as the Steve Pray Award for Imagination and Technique for the 2024 High School Art Invitational and the award for the Most Creative Use of Media for Teentober 2023.My work is heavily inspired by the cartoons, games, anime, and online creators I've grown up with. The biggest inspirations I can see in my style today are from Toby Fox's games, the Bendy series, Steven Universe, and Drawingwiffwaffles' drawing videos. I wouldn't be where I am today without the creations of others. ♡As i grow and improve, I plan to go to college for art and take a career in the cartoon industry. It's been a dream of mine since I was a child to work for Cartoon Network Studios!

In my digital illustrations, i tend to use a simple style with soft but sharp shading. I love putting thick outlines around my subjects to make them stand out against the background- like putting a sticker in a scrapbook!I use a Wacom Intuous S drawing tablet with an HP Chromebook. For most of my work I use Kleki, though I occasionally use JSpaint and JS KidPix.

For traditional work, it's much easier for me to add details and put more emotion into my work. Feeling the texture of my artwork and the medium im using in my hands as an extension of my body is a very freeing feeling.I use many mediums for my traditional work! I have experience in acrylics, gouache, oil paint, watercolours, pencils, ink, charcoal, and more. Some of my favourite materials I use are acrylic brush markers, mechanical pencils, and spray paint. Along with conventional mediums, I also like to use things like fake blood, makeup, plaster, and soaps in my work.

I mostly build things such as masks and heads of characters to cosplay, or small statues of things from media that I enjoy.I often work with cardboard due to its availability. Along with cardboard, I've used many different types of clay, paper folding techniques, acrylic paints, and A LOT of hot glue.
